  • Up to this point, students with significant disabilities have been taught virtually by joining brick and mortar classes remotely or through hospital homebound services. Spectrum Education delivers rigorous, engaging lessons through a flexible online model.

  • A variety of resources are used to deliver Florida State Standards. Check out this page: https://www.spectrumeducator.org/families for more information.

  • A laptop or computer, reliable internet service, planner, notebook, pencils, whiteboard and whiteboard marker.

  • We our direct providers for the Family Empower Grant through Step Up for Students.

  • You will need to file a notice to homeschool with your local school district if you are not already homeschooling.

  • Evaluations would be conducted by a certified teacher from Spectrum Education, Inc. (unless you choose otherwise).

  • The portfolio would be kept by us, shared with you regularly as progress and report cards.

  • We recommend obtaining a copy of your child’s IEP and sharing with us so we can better understand your child’s needs.

    Homeschool and private schools are not required to have IEPs.

    Our goal is to provide the ultimate personalized educational experience. Working as a team we will not need an IEP to tell you what your child’s needs are in their educational environment.

  • If a student were to leave homeschool or private school and go back to public school, the public school would look at the most recent IEP and reevaluate the student.

  • Much like public school, records will be kept to show progress towards the standards taught. All items will all be listed in a transcript and students will receive a diploma based the state of Florida requirements for graduation.

    What Homeschooled Students Need On Their College Application

  • Besides the annual assessment, homeschoolers are not required to take any other assessments. However, if students would like to take state benchmark assessments or EOC assessments they may do so.
